Posy Shawl - Part 1

The Posy shawl is the perfect accessory for summer. Lightweight and soft with a crescent shape that is big enough to cover your shoulders. Posy can also be worn like a scarf, for a lot of versatility! The pattern starts with garter ridges and then flows into a beautiful, delicate floral lace. This is a great pattern for someone who has done some lace before or a knitter who is ready for an adventure.

In this three-part class you will learn how to make a "garter tab cast-on,” one of the most popular ways of starting a shawl. You will also learn new increasing methods, some specialty stitches, and how to read a lace chart. There will also be a discussion on blocking the finished shawl, and how to use blocking wires to make the most of your lace work.

When: Fridays, June 28 July 12, 19, 6-8pm (no class July 5)

Instructor: Heather

Cost: $75

Skills Required: Intermediate. Must be a knitter who knows how to fix basic mistakes and read stitches. Prior experience knitting lace is a plus. We will be working from a charted pattern.

Materials: There are two different shawl sizes and weights to choose from:
Heavy weight size takes 650 yards of fingering weight and 650 yards of lace weight mohair-silk (yarns are held together), 40” US #9 circular needle.
or
Light weight size takes 900 yards of lace or fingering weight yarn, 40” US #6 circular needle
Both sizes will require a full set of stitch markers, and a copy of the pattern “Posy” by Tin Can Knits.

Beatrice is perfect for wrapping up with on those chilly summer nights when the fog rolls in.

Wednesday Night KAL-PLUS!

There is a new addition to our Wednesday Knit-A-Long or KAL!

We are now calling this event KAL-PLUS! What that means is you have the option to join the selected KAL or you can choose a project you are comfortable navigating on your own. This will be more inclusive to all who want to join in on Wednesday evenings!

For June, knit along with us as we follow the beautiful, undulating waves of the “Beatrice” Shawl by Beatrice Perron Dahlen. Knitted in worsted weight, this shawl flows quickly off your needles, and the simple lines and lace pattern make it perfect for social stitching. Keep it simple, or add depth and richness with a fade color palette, or try carrying a second strand of silk mohair throughout for a soft, hazy glow; it’s really not as hard as it seems! Beatrice is perfect for wrapping up with on those chilly summer nights when the fog rolls in.

When: Wednesdays from 6:00pm - 8:00pm

Led by: Heather

Cost: FREE

Materials: Approx. 630 yards of a worsted weight yarn. US 6 32” circular knitting needle. Hardcopy of the pattern can be purchased in the shop.

Note: This is not a class. Heather will be knitting with you and providing light pattern support. Please choose a pattern you are comfortable navigating on your own.
