Beginning Embroidery

This is the second in our beginning embroidery class series, covering three more basic stitches. You will learn the Double Reverse Chain Stitch and Split Stitch for outlining and filling. We will also review stem stitch and satin stitch by using them in different ways. This class is designed for beginners, so we will discuss how to start and stop threads neatly, and how to use the stitches you know in small designs.

Build your skills after taking our first Beginning Embroidery class, or jump in here to start your embroidery journey! In each class of this series we will cover a filling stitch, an accent stitch and an outlining stitch. The goal is to experiment with textures provided by different stitches, and to learn how to utilize them in a small project.

Instructor: Valerie Neer

Cost: $40

Skill Level: Beginner

Materials: Embroidery needle, a piece of linen fabric, a 28.8 yard skein of Silk and Ivory crewel wool in your choice of color (additional colors may be purchased as well) and a micron pen or mechanical pencil. An embroidery hoop is optional and may be purchased at the shop.
