Have you been wanting to make socks two at a time, so your second sock actually gets finished? Have you ever wanted to try toe up socks? Here is your chance to do both! We will be focusing on managing two balls of yarn, so you can feel comfortable working both of your socks at the same time. In our first class, we will focus on constructing the toes and using the Magic Loop method. If you already have this skill, great! If not, consider this a way to challenge yourself and gain a new skill, and join us anyway!
This class will be taught in two parts, one month apart to allow time for knitting before getting to the heel. For the second part of the class, we will be going over how to construct your after-thought heels and finish up your socks!
Skills Required: Should have some experience making socks and knitting in the round
Materials: 1) Approximately 400 yards of sock yarn; 2)“Back to Basics: Socks” pattern available for free on Ravelry, please come to class with the pattern printed; 3) Size US 2 (or size needle to obtain gauge) with 40” or 47” cable
Note: Your sock yarn will need to be wound in two equal balls. When you purchase your yarn at the shop, we are happy to do this for you.
Pre-Work: 1) Have your gauge swatch finished per pattern instructions. This will help you know what size needle you need for class; 2) Have your foot measurements filled in on the worksheet page. Have someone help you measure your feet accurately. If you are confused and need help, Heather will be happy to help you measure your foot BEFORE the day of class. Please call the shop first to make sure she is working the day you come in.
