Learn to create a beautiful and colorful wall hanging in this beginner workshop with local artist and designer, Amber Powers. You will learn the basic skills of warping, weaving, changing colors, and other tips and tricks for adding interest, including Rya knots, making shapes, loops and bubbles. You will take home a wooden loom for completing your weaving. No prior experience is necessary.

Materials Needed: At least 100 yards each of three colors in bulky or super-bulky yarn, and darning needle from Yarn Shop Santa Cruz.

About the Instructor: Amber Powers is a textile and surface design artist who has had a love affair with print and pattern from a young age. Her inspiration comes from nature and its ability to be functional, unique and beautiful in design and color. She loves to travel and learn about history and culture through traditional arts and crafts, and her art always involves using her hands and enjoyment in the act of making.
