Sashiko Workshop

We are so excited to host guest instructor, Carol Ziogas for our first sashiko workshop. Carol is a Bay Area native who started sewing at age six and hasn't stopped yet. She is the owner of Kimonomomo, writes at The Ardent Thread blog (theardentthread.com), and has been teaching sashiko in the US for over a decade. She has also demonstrated sashiko techniques at the Tokyo Quilt Festival in Japan for the past three years.

In this class you will work with Japanese fabric and materials to learn the meditative craft of sashiko embroidery. You will begin a sampler that can later be used to make into a tote bag. Using a panel of yukata (cotton kimono) fabric, you will practice stitching with sashiko needles and thread, learn about backstitching (no knots!) and how simple it can be to make something creative, beautiful, and practical!

Kit included in class:
1 panel cotton yukata fabric, pre-washed and ironed
1 skein white sashiko thread
1 sashiko needle

Instructor: Carol Ziogas
Cost: $75
